WORK RIGHTS AND STAY BACK

On-Campus Employment: International students with F-1 visas are typically allowed to work on the campus of their educational institution for up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session, and full-time during scheduled breaks.
Curricular Practical Training (CPT): CPT is a type of work authorization that allows international students to engage in paid off-campus employment directly related to their field of study. It requires approval from the designated school official (DSO) and is typically available during the academic program.
Optional Practical Training (OPT): OPT is a temporary work authorization that allows international students to work in the United States for up to 12 months after completing their academic program. It can be used pre or post-completion. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) degree holders may be eligible for a 24-month extension, allowing a total of up to 36 months of work authorization.

Step 1: Research

Make sure all required documents are in place before moving to applications

4. Letter of Recommendations (LOR) (2-3 LORs are required).

Step 4: Applications
UG: Common App (Common App is a common applications portal for 99% of universities for undergraduate admissions).
PG: University Portal (Every university has separate portals to Apply for Masters and PhD programs)

Step 5: Caution
Make sure all applications are rechecked twice and all relevant documents are uploaded, scholarship applications and official test scores are sent to the universities way before deadlines.

Step 6: Decision
On average, a US university takes between 4-8 weeks to declare the results of your application sent to the university.
An Email is sent to your registered email ID, mentioning your acceptance, rejection or deference to the desired college you applied to.

Step 7: After Admittance
Read the complete offer letter thoroughly and make sure if any condition is given, it has to be met before the deadline mentioned.
1. The university will ask for documents that are further required like final transcripts, test scores, degrees, etc.
2. Pay a deposit/enrollment fee - to reserve your seat at the university. The amount and deadline will be mentioned
3. Financial Documents - The university will ask for 1 year's total cost to Attend college in the US (mentioned on the university website or portal)
4. Login into the university portal to see the next steps and documents required

Step 8: Financial Documents and I20
The university will ask to give proof of 1 year of sufficient funds in liquid form (which can be withdrawn immediately) like a savings account balance certificate, fixed deposit, invested funds etc.
After submission of proof of funds within 2 weeks, you will receive an I20 certificate from the university and now you can apply for a student F-1 Visa.

Step 9: Student Visa
M-1(programs duration less than 9 months)/F1 visa/J-1 visa (PhD students)
1. Fee: $185 USD (Visa Fee) + $350 USD (SEVIS Fee)
